Scholarship Info The
International School of Doctorate on Innovative Technologies at the Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies in Pisa, Italy, offers a three-year
residential Ph.D. programme with highly interdisciplinary connotation, where students can specialise in four major areas of the Graduate School
of Engineering, namely
* Embedded Systems, with emphasis on real-time systems and resource management.
* Telecommunications, especially referring to networks and photonic technologies.
* Biorobotics, including micro-engineering, biomedical engineering, biomimetic robotics, rehabilitation technologies and computer assisted
surgery.
* Perceptual Robotics, with emphasis on telerobotics, cognitive robotics and virtual environments.
Admitted students are requested to take 4 courses in the first year and 2 courses in the second year, and to pass the relative exams in order to
proceed with the Ph.D. programme. The third year of the programme is fully devoted to research in one of the four general areas listed above.
Within the framework of the Ph.D. programme, mandatory attendance of lectures, research activities, possibilities for summer schools and periods
abroad "coexist" in a harmonised and balanced way.

- Possession of a Master degree (or equivalent)
- To be under 35 years of age on July 25, 2007
Scholarship Amount 4 positions with 4 fellowships (amounting to € 12.500 per year + free meals at school’s
canteen + Campus facilities).

envelopment.
Application and attachments:
Enclosures to the hard copy of the applications:
1. two copies of their Curriculum Vitae et Studiorum. Please use the EU model (Download);
2. detailed list of academic courses taken. This list should contain information regarding credits, units (or equivalent) received, the grades
received for each class taken, and the date when the final (or semester) examination was taken;
3. a copy of their degree thesis or two abstracts in English and a copy of any other publication that they deem suitable;
4. the certificates of knowledge of the English language;
5. two copies of a detailed Research Project, of no more than 3,000 words, which will describe the research activities that applicants would like
to perform during the PhD course. The Research Project will include:
* a title;
* the scientific premises and the relevant bibliography;
* the aim and expectations of the research;
* the experimental methods and data analysis methods which will be used, where required;
6. at least two Reference Letters written by Faculty Members who have supervised the applicant’s work during his/her university
studies;
Selection of applicants:
Assessment of the titles: evaluation of the submitted documents and publications, including the CV, and the Research
Project.
Beginning of the PhD Programme:
The PhD Programme will start on January 15, 2008
